Shadowball - Hackney Music Development Trust (part of Sheffield Children’s Festival 2012)

The Hackney Music Development Trust have a touring jazz opera called Shadowball, which is based on a pre-game baseball feature from the 1930s-40s involving the Negro Leagues. Shadowball was a collaboration between the Hackney Music Development Trust, Netherthorpe and Springfield primary schools and formed part of Sheffield Children's Festival.

My role in Shadowball was costume supervisor. This involved planning and managing the costume fitting schedule between the two schools, doing the fittings and alterations, being on standby during the performances to do final costume checks and emergency repairs. The job also involved packing all the costumes away at the end of the performance, ready for transportation to the next venue.

The role was incredibly rewarding and challenging as we had just over three weeks to managing the fittings and alterations for 85 children in time for the technical rehearsals and final performances.
