Costume maker - period and contemporary styles
I'm a trained costume maker based in Manchester, England. I've worked for a number of theatre and TV production companies, including: Hackney Music Development Trust, Opera North, Red Production, Sheffield Theatres and Scottish Opera (including costumes commissioned by the New York Metropolitan Opera). Additional experience includes ice skating costumes, private commissions and alterations.
As a costume maker my skills include costume research, design, historical and contemporary costume construction, pattern cutting, costume breakdown, wardrobe management, costume continuity, fittings and alterations.
In addition to my costume making skills and experience, I also completed a Masters in Creative Pattern Cutting (for fashion) in 2017, at Doncaster College University Centre. I achieved a Distinction grade for this. My final project was an experimental collection made from 100% recycled clothing with zero waste. I documented my final Masters project on my Wordpress site, Miss Sims Creates, if you'd like to take a look.
